What is FCA Baseball?

Are you looking for a different experience for your club baseball team? FCA Baseball seeks to develop athletes in the Greater Portland and SW Washington areas that demonstrate leadership and play with character, passion and excellence. It’s our goal to grow mind, body and spirit through the universal language of sports.

While we are a Christ-centered baseball team, we welcome players of all faith backgrounds. We are a competitive, elite-level team— but win or lose, we play in a way that gives all of the glory to God.

MEET THE COACHES

Brian Metz

FCA Sports Director

Coach Metz is a 3D Certified Coach and currently serves as the Clark County Area Director and Sports Director for FCA. He has an extensive coaching background and has coached both high school and collegiate baseball since 2003. Most recently, Coach Metz joined King’s Way Christian in 2018 as the Assistant Coach and Head Hitting Coach.

Prior to starting his coaching career, Coach Metz played collegiate baseball at Victor Valley College, New Mexico State University (DIV I) and Colorado State Pueblo (DIV II).

Shane Schoeneberg

Shane Schoeneberg is a seasoned baseball coach with over 15 years of experience. From coaching at various levels nationwide to fostering the growth of youth athletes into competent adults, Shane's dedication shines through in every aspect of his work. Shane joins FCA with a passion for the game and building transformational lifelong relationships.
Zach Carter

Vancouver, WA | 18u

Coach Carter is a 360 Certified Coach and is currently the head varsity baseball Coach at Washougal High School and began coaching in 2016.

Coach Carter is very passionate about the game of baseball and believes that baseball is a great vessel to teach life lessons in humility, excellence, attitude, and teamwork.

Prior to starting his coaching career, Coach Carter graduated from Camas High School in 2011 and obtained a civil engineering degree from Saint Martin’s University in 2015. He played collegiate baseball at Saint Martin’s (NCAA Division II) and did a 2-year stint in Sante Fe, New Mexico playing professional baseball in the independent Pecos League.

Nic Patee

FCA Lumberjacks | Woodland, WA

Nic has managed the FCA Lumberjacks youth program for the past four years, growing the program from one team, to seven teams between 10u - 13u. As an athlete, Nic was an All-State honoree both academically and on the field. He then played collegiately at Northwest Nazarene University becoming a two-time All-Conference member and earning All-Region Team awards in 2005. His passion is helping athletes place their full effort in Christ's direction for their life.
Brian Lind

Vancouver, WA | 13u

Brian has five years of coaching experience with his boys' baseball and football teams. He choses to coach baseball as a way to give back to the community (as a ministry) through a game that was instrumental in his development into a young adult.
Tony Valdez

Vancouver, WA | 13u

I’m a husband to an amazing wife who supports me to do what I love. I’m also a father to a son who is my everything. I’ve lived in the Clark County area for 15 years. My coaching background includes coaching at King’s Way Christian High School (Football and Baseball). This is my second year coaching with FCA and it has been a incredible experience. I’ve coached different sports at different levels of the game. It is truly my passion to develop our youth into young adults on and off the field.
